FDM

Need parts manufactured form more traditional methods and materials?

FDM 3D printing technology explained:

Layer resolution of 100 microns available

The principle of this technique is to melt and force a thermoplastic (usually in the form of a preformed filament) through a small diameter die and draw a filament across the area of a 2D slice.

Once a slice or layer is completed the z-axis increments downwards so that the next layer can be deposited.

The good thing with FDM is that there are hardly no restrictions with material choice, there are a full range of materials choices from, PLA to ABS, through to Nylons and Polycarbonates.

drawback

One drawback of this technique is that resultant structures are not gas or water tight. However, we can provide a post processing method that can be used to improve surface finish and fill.
